I only watch the part near the end where Wai Lan read the letter from Chui Kiu in the hospital.
Chui Kiu and husband really were child kidnappers. They have kidnapped a lot of children, but, the only parent of the children they have seen was Wai Lan. She sadd she clearly remember Wai Lan's eyes and look, the look of a mother who has lost her child. She felt very afraid. The moment she closed her eyes at night, she will see Wai Lan's eyes.
Her husband really was a chicken castrator (yim gai). They lived in Wan Fau and have a son. After saving some money, they went to Guangzhou to do some small business there. But, the first unfortunate thing that happen in Guangzhao was their son died of illness. After that the couple got addicted to gambling. They gambled all their money away and has to kidnap children to make money. Jeung was the child that was hardest to sell because he's always sick and crying. So, no one wanted him.
One day, Jeung was again having fever. Her husband suddenly came into the room and pulled her away and ran. It turns out that her husband has gone to kidnap children again but, this time he failed. People chased after them. Her husband pushed her to a side lane and she saw her husband being beaten to death by the people. She didn't even dare to go retrieve his corpse. The corpse was later buried by people from the health department and she only dare to pray to him from far away. She felt very remorseful. Being a kidnapper really will have bad retribution.
She wanted to give Jeung back to Wai Lan. But, on the way to Guangzho, Jeung again caught a high fever. Kiu took him to the hospital and used up all her savings to treat him, but, to no avail. So, she went to pray to Kwan Yin to help this poor child. That night, in the hospital, Jeung recovered. He clasped at Kiu's hand and called her 'mother'. He has lost his memory due to the fever.
In a moment of selfishness, she felt that Kwan Yin has forgiven her and knowing that she's all alone, gave her back a son. She brought Jeung back to Wan Fau and told everyone that he's her dead son Tung. Everyone believed her.
So, they two mother and son live together for 20 years. She thought that if they never go back to Guangzho, Jeung will never know the truth. But, fate has different plan. She acquired this illness and only Fong Bin Hospital in Guangzho has the equipment to treat her. So, they came back to Guangzhou and bump into Wai Lan again.
She has wrote and thrown this letter away many times. She didn't dare to let Jeung know his beloved mother is a kidnapper. But, Tong has awaken her with his scolding, telling her that if she died without revealing the truth, Jeung will never know his true identity.

Thanks for the recap! Now I know why he didn't recognise his own mom. So Wai Lan read the letter to Jeung or just to herself?
At least she did the decent thing in the end. Such a thing is difficult to judge in real life. The woman was wrong to kidnap and yet she did love Jeung as her own. If Jeung remained at home, he would have had an education.
Very difficult.
So Tong went to see her somewhere towards the end before she wrote this final letter?

They couldn't find Jeung. Dr.Wing rush into to the school to find Wai Lan. She said they couldn't find her son and Kiu want to see Wai Lan and the family.
So, they went to visit her in the hospital. Kiu could hardly speak. She pulled out and gave to Wai Lan, addressing it to Lo Siu Tung's biological mother. Wai Lan open the letter and read in front of the other family member. She didn't read out loud actually. The narration voice was Kiu's But, at the end of the narration, everyone there seems to know the story. I guess she did read out loud.
After the narration finish, Leung, Kuen and Yan scolded the sick woman, saying they won't forgive her and big brother also won't forgive her. Tong stopped them and asked them each to go to different place to look for Jeung. They finally about to find Jeung and Jeung saw his adopted mother one last time. Very sad scene.
I think Tong might have gone to find her several times before. During the narration, Kenneth has 2 very emo confrontations at 2 different place in the hospital. One outside the garden, another in the room.

Another narration? So Tong going to see her is out of camera/flashback??
This is like full of narration!
I didn't think it was sad in part because I feel what she did was sick and in part because I hardly knew her.

"Another narration? So Tong going to see her is out of camera/flashback??"
I don't think it's off camera. I didn't watch the whole series. I just watch the part of the letter reading. So, there might be scenes of Tong going to find her and the scenes are just reharsh in the narration since there's one part of the letter that Kiu said Tong awaken her and make her decide to tell the truth. During this part, there's 2 emo confrontation scenes between Kiu and Tong with Tong doing most of the confronting.
